While some people may think being an assistant teacher in early childhood education is easy, I just remember that despite the challenges, my job allows me to do some of the things I love. Very rarely does any teacher on any level have a teacher all day, enough storage, updated technology, etc…let alone make a wage high enough to keep themselves from drowning in student debt.

(That’s if they can even lock down a permanent position without ten years of substitute teaching with Disney characters sunflower you are my sunshine shirt and 1/3 the salary of a teacher with a permanent position, delaying that teacher’s own ability to have children) It’s time our government gave our kids and teachers the pay and resources they need to be competitive in the world job market instead of paying to take tests to collect data that isn’t useful bc it is torture for our children.

My passion is teaching Early Education. I choose to be a Head Start Pre-K teacher so I can impact and serve the Disney characters sunflower you are my sunshine shirt. The challenge I face is being able to provide financially for my own children and family. The high-teacher turnover must be addressed by first valuing quality Early Educators. We are the foundation for all later leaning.
