Ballad of Buster Scruggs is how you do a western comedy. It’s funny but sad and finds comedy in the Blazing Saddles Excuse Me While I Whip This Out Christmas of life on the frontier. Although it may not be as funny or ridiculous as something like Blazing Saddles or Skin Game, it manages to be unique and entertaining while being in the realm of realism. It’s definitely one of the best Westerns to come out as of late.
