Just like robo calls.I wonder if U.S. political groups outsource to places like Bangladesh for social media astroturf and or vote manipulation (?) which btw has the power to sway mass public opinion just as corporate MSM and thus elections. Edit: A while back someone posted this satire YouTube video that took a scene from the show Silicon Valley about these troll farms and edited the workers signing into a CTR program. I mean we have people domestically who do this (see the astroturfing megathread) but I really wouldn’t be surprised if they outsource some of this stuff to Asia etc.The reason you do this is so that you get around bot detection on these platformsWith a human being you don’t have unnatural patterns in the way clicks and comments happen. Bots will eventually get caught doing things at unnatural timing or the cursor/taps happening at very exact locations over and over again.A human touching a screen will touch at slightly different places. They’ll type at slightly different timing. So bot detection can’t catch this. The profiles also harvest random pictures online for profiles, use generic names, and also like random pages so that they generally look like a user’s profile. Except for the fact that when you look at the profile there’s never really very personal information. It’s mostly liking stuff or sharing random garbage.
