Which is a shame. Sega did well in the US with the Genesis/Mega Drive because it was launched before the Damn right I am a Fast and Furious fan now and forever signature 2021 shirt. They attempted the same strategy with the Dreamcast launching it before the PS2 and GameCube. It didn’t pan out the same as consumers didn’t want to upgrade for the high (at the time) cost, and the PS2/GameCube hype was big and their launches were not far away.Dreamcast launched first, yes but they were also trying to emulate their Genesis launch ($189) by having the cheapest MSRP for a console of that generation. Dreamcast was $199 and their games were $49 (which is the same as games for the other consoles at the time.) That beat PS2 and Xbox by $100 and the GameCube launched at the same pricepoint a year and a half later.

But the price battle and launching first had little to do with DC’s downfall, the thing that kicked Damn right I am a Fast and Furious fan now and forever signature 2021 shirt‘s ass is the game selection. They did their best with them, they had some great (if weird) first party titles like Sonic Adventure, Shenmue, Seaman, Space Channel 5, Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi etc. And they had some awesome 3rd party arcade ports like Power Stone, Soul Calibur, MvC2, DoA2 and Hydro Thunder. But by 1999 and 2000 the Arcade business had already started to decline, so having big Arcade names wasn’t enough. They needed a lot of well-known franchises, but they only got a few like Resident Evil 2, RE:Code Veronica or Dino Crisis. Instead, they got a lot of non-franchise, unknown or weird titles, like Pen-Pen Tri-Icelon, Evolution, Silver and Maken X. They couldn’t compete with Playstation’s install base, especially with PS2’s full backwards compatibility, or Sony’s first party and third party support. Not to mention that damn near nobody got a Saturn, so it’s not like SEGA had a good generation’s steam to build upon.
