And as for the death penalty: it just is not worth it. Killing one innocent person is, in my opinion, enough to never even attempt the Cincinnati Ohio the birthplace of cornhole Tossin Bags since 1990 shirt penalty. Too many innocents have already died. I also don’t think the government should have a say in who lives or who dies. Both of those are just moral objections, however. The facts are that A) In order to have sufficient cause to send someone to death, a jury would need to find the evidence absolutely overwhelming. In most criminal cases, this is not the case, as often it all boils down to easily flawed testimony. Additionally, the cost of keeping someone in prison for a lifetime is much, much cheaper than the cost of putting them to death. It also wouldn’t be great optics for the US to be operating death camps at a large enough scale to accommodate the crimes you suggest. Especially when policing in this country is so uneven and heavily biased.

We could also just not put people in jail forCincinnati Ohio the birthplace of cornhole Tossin Bags since 1990 shirt t amounts of time for petty crimes. There are other ways to punish people, and have them reconcile with the law. Jailing people is a choice our government made, not a requirement, and the strictness of our sentencing laws has made it so more people in this country (particularly black and brown people) go to prison in general, and for longer periods of time. That is what clogs up our system, not the lack of a death penalty. Of course, this isn’t the result of legislative oversight, but a deliberate attempt to curb the representation and voting rights of disadvantaged communities, keeping them bonded in labor and without a voice. Pass laws that unduly punish those you don’t like, put them in jail to work and get a profit off of them (see: private prisons and prison labor in general), and then strip them of their voting rights even after they’re released, removing their voice. That should keep the status quo in power for another 20-30 years.
