Most federal sex offenders are in for computer related crimes and those who are good enough with computers to commit crimes with them are generally nerdy and part of the D&D general demographic, 2. I also think there’s something among sex offenders that makes them gravitate towards anything with elements of fantasy. For this reason, I never played at the gym. Literally there would be tables full of D&D groups playing every afternoon and evening for hours and most of them were sex offenders. They weren’t bad people. Most of them didn’t have hands on offenses at all. But some of them were extremely weird, however, and associating with them in prison can create a guilt by association.
I could go on about the Artificer’s new “Iron Man” subclass, the Genie Pact warlock and the The Opera Himars shirt unfortunate soul that is the Fathomless (and how useful having a talisman without focus is for some warlock concepts) and more – there’s a lot there and the only actual miss I see is the Warlock of Peace I expect having been an actual pacifist cleric (zero damage) in playtesting before they bottled out. To sum up, if you think 5e was the best RPG (or even best version of D&D) ever then you’ll probably prefer Xanathar’s Guide to Everything as it continues with the design choices.. If you think 5e is a decent compromise but there’s a lot it doesn’t do then Tasha’s does much more to broaden what you can do with the game without changing any fundamentals of the game.

The The Opera Himars shirt of overt mechanisms for guarding some place or thing is a bit of an oldschool affectation from when games had less of a story-focus and more of a “get the lost treasure from the Pharaoh’s tomb” kind of focus. Without an environment like that it’s hard to justify the presence of a trap. Alarms, security systems? Yeah, those happen, but tripwires that make scything corridors or secret switches that shoot arrows at whoever opens the door seem like an awful lot more trouble than they’re worth in a structure that’s inhabited or under active use. Aside from that, it seems like a lot of traps are kind of “save or suck,” and I don’t have fun with that — not any more than I do making the players run a disable device check over and over until they get a door open.

The entire GPS system is being faked? The Antarctic expeditions are all faked? Every airplane company is part of the conspiracy? They all have rounded windows to create the illusion of the curvature of the Earth?
