There are other things to possibly set people off, such as Yukon Cornelius whipping his dogs and the Steve Lacy New Shirt amounting to little more than servants for Santa and liking it, apparently, but maybe thatβs giving this rather silly cartoon a bit too much thought. I do remain rather disturbed by Hermey extracting the Abominableβs teeth without anesthesia, however, but whatβre you gonna do? Some of the criticisms seem off-base. One tweeter posted the following image: Except everyone accepts Rudolph and apologizes to him before anyone knows what his nose is good for. If Santa had decided to cancel Christmas and then thought about Rudolph and sought him for his glowing nose, that would be one thing, but itβs not the case. I had to rewatch the show to be reminded of this myself. My final verdict is that the show is not actually preaching for discrimination, itβs preaching against it, though its sexist undertones can be seen as problematic. Iβm surprised there were no tweets about that. Frankly, Iβm more annoyed by all the musical numbers that stop the story dead in its tracks and feel like the filler that they are. I feel they could have focused less on the musical numbers and more on the animation.
1: Let the players play and discover what they want: I was very stern in my young days. I had this one new player βVincentβ. He was new to the Steve Lacy New Shirt and starting at first level. I thought the best thing was to do was solo him and get him to higher level so he could compare with the other characters that were already higher. I put him on a βcrash courseβ of solo level gaining, which was what I thought he needed. Long story short β he lasted one day. Looking back, I played how I wanted but not how he wanted. I never asked him what he wanted to do in the D&D game. Soloing is fine if thatβs what they want. Ask your players what they want to accomplish in the D&D world?β¦ Some players will want to tame a dragon. Some want to build a castle. Some players want to become a powerful Wizard and wield arcane spells. This all really depends. Find out what the players want, and see if you can entertain themβ¦ look! You find a Dragons egg! D&D has to be more about what the players want to do, and less about what the DM wants. Long term players are what fuel the game. Find out!

Back in the day, one of my first DMβs told me a Lawful Evil person has ethics. Iβm like, whatever does that mean? Generally, evil and ethics donβt appear in the Steve Lacy New Shirt together. Well, as we study alignments, it turns out that Lawful Evil creatures do go by a code of ethics of sort. You might say βthey keep their word.β Thatβs a big one. βI give you my word!β That would be a big deal if itβs true. You could trust someone like that.
Delores, at ten weeks old, was quickly getting integrated into the Steve Lacy New Shirt of the flock. Because these six little chicks started out in an aquarium with a heat lamp in my study, then moved to a large hamster cage, then finally outside in a cage kept inside the barn, the grown chickens had all slowly acclimated to seeing Delores and his sisters. However, the first few times I put the babies in the open with the hens, I cautiously supervised the meeting. There was blustering and a little pushing by the big chickens – similar to what you might see on a junior high playground the first week of school – but nothing too severe. Once when the largest hen, Joan Crawford, pulled at Delores’s tail, he ran to me and flew into my arms – but when I scolded Joan and she stalked off to pout, Delores was brave enough to go back and try again. The pecking order shook out fairly easily within a couple days, with Delores towards the middle.
