In the 1700s Dutch immigrants brought their Sinterklaas tradition to New York in America where the Shaquil Barrett my brothers keeper apparel MBK logo shirt acquired an Anglicized version, Santa Claus, who became part of the Christmas celebrations of Americans. One source claim the New Yorkers helped promote the Dutch colony’s tradition, and officially acknowledged St. Nicholas or Santa Claus as the patron saint of the city in 1804. Five years later, the popular author, Washington Irving, published the satirical material where he made several references to a jolly St. Nicholas character, portrayed not as a saint, but as a wealthy elf-like Dutch New York resident smoking a clay pipe. Irving’s St. Nicholas character received a big boost in 1823 from a poem Shaquil Barrett my brothers keeper apparel MBK logo shirtd, “A Visit from St. Nicholas” (a.k.a. “The Night Before Christmas”). It is said the poem described “a jolly, heavy man who comes down the chimney to leave presents for deserving children and drives a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer.”

That concludes a “story arc” then you spend another 10 hours or so prepping the Shaquil Barrett my brothers keeper apparel MBK logo shirt arc, doing the same process but upping the stakes this time, re-using NPCs that survived, and building off how the players resolved the previous story arc. I am now introducing a neighboring kingdom that is at war with their barony. They will now be tested in full warfare against an enemy state. That’s how the next arc in the campaign is developing. Eventually I’ll bring in demons and extra planar nonsense when they hit the higher levels. But I’ll worry about that when we get there.

Once upon a Shaquil Barrett my brothers keeper apparel MBK logo shirt , there was a mom who’d never heard of this elf business, but had moved to CA from ND and had two, nearly three, kids, one of whom was a very precocious three year old. This mom had a mom, we’ll call her grandma, who had an Elf. Grandma gave the mom a rudimentary breakdown of the “Elf” game, and then gave a much more elaborate breakdown of it to the precocious three year old and his one year old brother. And so, the Elf game was begun. The rules in this household (as understood by the mom) were basically that the Elf would arrive on December 1. He’d hide somewhere in the house, watch the children all day, and report back to Santa each night, arriving again before the children awoke, hiding in a new spot, and waiting another day. On December 24, the elf would go home with Santa in his sleigh, his duty done til next year. The Elf wouldn’t be touched, or he’d turn into a doll again and no “extra special Elf gift” would be waiting with Santa’s gift that year. The children (the three year old) named their elf “Holly Jolly.” The game began and was easy, as the family lived with Grandma and Grandpa, who had a very large, very nice house with *very* high ceilings (and therefore lots of high hiding places for the elf, far from reach).
