I haven’t watched much Star Trek but I think I’ve Real Men Are Born In Poland 100 Authenic Classic Shirt I know talk about how in the world of Star Trek TNG, music stopped in the 60s or something. Nobody listens to anything but jazz or classical. Never any Michael Jackson, no 2000s classics, no new contemporary styles.Warhammer 40k is SO bad about this lol, but the setting isn’t really supposed to be taken that seriously so it isn’t a huge deal.Still, 40k has just about no sense of it’s own scale whatsoever, both in terms of time and actual space.Yes, the Imperium is supposed to be a willfully stagnant culture, but that cannot possibly account for the seemingly complete cultural and technological uniformity across a million planets (the majority of which have a population significantly exceeding modern Earth), many of which have literally been occupied by human civilization in isolation for tens of thousands of years, to all have a mostly uniform culture. 40k is a setting with a history that far exceeds the extent of actual human history in scale, yet almost always ends up ignoring that fact.

Not to mention, do they just… not evolve? I mean, we know that evolution exists in the 40k setting, yet it’s completely ignored in regards to the Eldar. 60 million years ago human ancestors were still basically rats emerging from the extinction of the dinosaurs lol, yet the Eldar haven’t changed a bit…), or the many, many, many instances of scale nonsense within the nuances of Imperium stuff itself. I could write a whole essay on the internal and logical inconsistencies of the setting lol.But its a fun setting where guys in big armor fight big demons with big guns so none of that really matters. It’s just a little frustrating because sometimes the writers for 40k do try to unify the setting into something that makes sense beyond goofy fun, but it often just makes even less sense after they attempt to explain it
