Ole Miss World Series Essential Ole Miss National Championships Shirt
Long story short, this druid had spent hundreds of Ole Miss World Series Essential Ole Miss National Championships Shirt learning how to magically influence a creature in such a way that bypasses charm immunity, and used this ability to coax the tarrasque into attacking locations of her choosing. So, the tarrasque wasn’t the boss, the druid was. The goal was to either recruit other metallic dragons to distract the tarrasque while the party took on the druid, or break her hold on it somehow. Mind you, this wasn’t the idiotic 5th edition tarrasque that is nothing more than a bag of hit points. I borrowed the real tarrasque rules, where it cannot actually be killed without at least one wish spell. If I hadn’t, the party could handily have killed it themselves. To me, the tarrasque should never be a “boss” per se. It has no evil plans and is unpredictable. It just shows up sometimes and fucks shit up, then leaves. If a party faces one, the goal should never be to outright defeat it, but rather just make it go away. “Kill the big monster” isn’t a very interesting story. However, if the tarrasque is just a tool in the villain’s toolbox, then you have some story potential. That’s what I tried to do.

To illustrate the difference in approach between Tasha’s and the PHB, in the PHB a lot of Ole Miss World Series Essential Ole Miss National Championships Shirt was taken to make sure that other than the spellcasting subclasses and hit points the rogue and the fighter could do nothing that was magical and not a spell. This remained through Xanathar’s (with the Arcane Archer being passable as a spellcaster). Meanwhile in Tasha’s each has one psychic subclass (the soulknife and the psychic warrior) and a magical non-caster (the rogue gets the phantom, haunted by and gaining power from the souls of their dead while the fighter gets the rune knight, a distant relation of the artificer that also gives the fighter bonuses outside combat). Oh, and the barbarian gets to be a lycanthrope – or to have wild magic flowing through them which triggers whenever they rage; something that will utterly delight some players.

Have them go on adventures trying to raise allies. Have them search out monsters that can maybe be tricked into fighting the tarrasque for them. Only after an extended period of Ole Miss World Series Essential Ole Miss National Championships Shirt should they even try to go head to head with the beast. Second, wherever they are facing the tarrasque head-on, put a time limit on the encounter. It’s almost embarrassingly easy for a high level party to slowly kill the tarrasque. Use flight, or fast movement, to stay out of range, then slowly wear it down. So make sure the PCs have to finish it off in a hurry. Maybe it’s going to devour something important. Maybe it’s going to break open a portal to the planet of the tarrasques, unleashing thousands of the beasts. Or maybe it’s just going to escape into one of its burrows.

The family has moved into their own home now, an older home (still nice, but no high ceilings and not many elf hiding places!), and the children have both multiplied AND grown older, taller, and Ole Miss World Series Essential Ole Miss National Championships Shirt. The Elf game is now the bane of the mom’s existence. Hiding it is a task. Several times this year, the Elf hasn’t had to go back to Santa because the kids were SO good the day before, thus explaining why he remained in the exact same hiding spot as the previous day. One evening, the mom is flustered. She finally hands the Elf to the dad and says, you hide the #%)(#^# elf today, but hide it high, because Big M is testing the waters and going to touch the #%(^#^ thing.” Dad’s answer is less than ideal – not only is the perch precarious, but it’s easily within reach of at least the oldest child, if not the second oldest as well. And it’s possible the elf is also judging the thermostat temp, which is an ongoing passive aggressive battle between mom (who sits at home and freezes all day) and dad (who pays the bills, but also works in his nice warm office all day).
