Ironically I see far fewer ads than I did ten years ago. I don’t use any streaming service that shows ads (or maybe I do and my adblocker just blocks them?). If a show isn’t available on the service I have, I pirate it. Sometimes I pirate even if the content is available juat to get it in better quality. I stopped watching cable TV altogether because there are too many ads. I stopped watching sports for the same reason. I have adblockers on all my devices. And if there’s an ad on while I’m pumping gas, I just look at my phone. Fuck ads. It’s not even a lot of effort to set up adblockers. Do it while an ad is playing.I don’t give a My 47th Birthday Funny Lockdown Slogan shirt Ideal for present Friends quarantine T-Shirtabout platforms and content creators that rely on ad revenue. The internet wasn’t worse before online advertising blew up.

In the 20+ years I’ve been online, I’ve had exactly one ad that was useful, back in 2005. My 47th Birthday Funny Lockdown Slogan shirt Ideal for present Friends quarantine T-Shirtwas on an offroading forum site, and the banner ad was for an online offroading parts store. I was new to quads at the time, and was looking for stores anyway, so I took note of the name, and checked it out later. Turned out to be a great site. But I’ve never once clicked on an ad.This is one of the only things that makes me glad that I live in a 3rd world shithole and not the USA or UK. Any time that I’ve ever streamed something live from a US or UK channel I’m actually gobsmacked at how many god damn adverts there are. And it’s always a chuckle when there’s an American talk show on a South African channel where the host seems to say “we’ll be right back after these commercials” about 5 times before it actually goes to adverts. Seems to be every five minutes and I don’t understand how you guys can put up with that crap. Also, I saw in a TV show the other day that people even have to watch adverts when sitting in a taxi, that they’re no doubt not already paying a small fortune to use. Is this real? The whole thing seems like an absurd fever dream to me. Like it surely has to be an over exaggerated parody or something.
