For my peers and I (~6 years after law school graduation), it feels like quality of exit options depends on your practice I Dont Snore I Dream Im A Sprint Car Vintage shirt. Generally, corporate/transactional practice group associates seem to have significantly better in-house options than litigators, with a lot of people leaving to go in-house after as little as 4 years or so in biglaw. Even with 5-6 years of biglaw experience, my litigation friends and I are finding that there aren’t a lot of in-house litigation jobs out there, particularly ones that pay as well as some of the corporate in-house jobs. There do seem to be far more government exit options for litigators though, but it can take a very long time to get a government job. (Most of my peers who are seeking government jobs want to be federal prosecutors/AUSAs, and that interview process can take well over a year, with additional time needed after getting the offer for a background check.)

Best I Dont Snore I Dream Im A Sprint Car Vintage shirt
Congratulations on being debt-free at the start of your I Dont Snore I Dream Im A Sprint Car Vintage shirt in biglaw! I’m in the sixth year of my legal career now (I was in NYC biglaw for a year, did a federal clerkship, and then went to a biglaw salary-paying boutique firm) and it normally takes my more frugal peers in biglaw at least four years of fairly large payments (well over $3,500/month, probably more like $4,000+/month) to finish off their loans. Biglaw compensation is definitely generous enough that we can handle our loans and also build a nice nest egg at the same time, and if you’re starting out without that burden of student loans, your savings and investments are going to build up so incredibly fast.
