Autotune is a brand name. There are various other products. At a simple level I could pitch shift a I Am Dreaming Of A Lung Cancer Free Christmas Shirt duff note in an otherwise good take, leaving everything else unaffected, using the built-in tools with any modern digital audio workstation (DAW). If the shift is not huge, I doubt anyone will notice. And if that saves what is otherwise *the* killer take, which may never be repeated (the singer may not have another take left in him or her), that is fair game. Another tool, Melodyne, works polyphonically. Play a chord on a piano or guitar, and it can determine which string is out of tune, and fix it on the fly. That is pretty mind-bogglingly impressive and, again, can save an otherwise good take. Elite singers can sing a note out of tune now and again. My wife is an operatic soprano, currently doing PhD research into just this topic. If you are 10 cents flat in one note in a live performance, it is unlikely anyone will remember it once they leave the theatre. But do it on a recording that may be played hundreds of times, and the singer is going to worry about it. Most classical performers would go for a drop-in retake. But itβs good to know thereβs a back-up plan tooβ¦
Simon Malls might have learned its own lesson in not disturbing the Christmas peace when it rolled out a new, sleek, almost futuristic Christmas display a few weeks ago at six of its 200 properties. Children could still sit on Santaβs lap as their parents once did. But gone were the elves, trees and other visual cues heralding traditional Christmas, replaced by a new, all-white faux-glacier structure that looked more like it came from the workshop of French designer Philippe Starck than the North Pole. Some customers balked; social media and local TV stations jumped on it; boycotts were invoked, and within days the largest mall owner in the U.S. retreated. βIt was our intention to experiment with delivering a modern, interactive experience for the family,β David Contis, president of Simon Malls, said in a statement. βAfter listening to customer feedback, we immediately decided to reinstall our existing Christmas dΓ©cor and hope our customers will join us in celebrating the Christmas season.β That Contis uttered the word βChristmasβ β and not βholidayβ β highlighted the true meaning of this tussle. While America grows more diverse culturally and religiously, and young America grows more agnostic, businesses are struggling with the question of I Am Dreaming Of A Lung Cancer Free Christmas Shirt to communicate a single, homogenous message β especially at this time of year.

Things change over time. Fewer and fewer people go to church or practice religion but almost everyone buys a big ham and has a big spread on Easter; if they have kids, the Easter Bunny comes and gives them oodles of colorful candy and there is laughter, vibrant color, food and family. How much does the guy on the cross come up anyway? Over the past 40 years we have seen the number of religious shows on mainstream television plummet. βThe 10 Commandmentsβ was on the other night on ABC (I think) and I was surprised. I had to remind myself that it was Easter. I didnβt forget to buy candy for various people, however. And I am a fairly religious person. Christmas is not about Christ. Itβs about a fat guy in a red suit who gives gifts to everyone; itβs about a tree in the living room and lots of blinking lights. Itβs about flying reindeer and buying, buying, buying. Ya, some people will go worship a little manger βjust in caseβ or for formβs sake – but the number of people doing that is dwindling too. When I was young, St Annes was jammed on Christmas Eve, right out the door, with the drunks in the back still passing the bottle. And boy, for a βjoyfulβ event – it was incredibly boring. The boredom alone has done more to kill religion than anything else. This past Xmas (see, we donβt even have to say βChristmasβ) my local Catholic Church was full – but just barely. But they also have fewer services now. The ticket punchers are still going, hopeful that God will ignore their bad lives but takes attendance at holy services. The stupid Republicans who are declaring there is a war on Christmas are still shoving to get to the head of the [[I Am Dreaming Of A Lung Cancer Free Christmas Shirt]] to get toys at Walmart. I donβt even think the Birth of Christ is even a tertiary consideration for people at βChristmasβ.

Santa Claus was inspired and created by St. Nicholas; – this Christmas tradition has Christian roots, rather than pagan ones. Born in southern Turkey around 280, he was a bishop in the early Christian church and suffered persecution and imprisonment for his faith. Coming from a wealthy family, he was renowned for his generosity towards the poor and disenfranchised. The legends surrounding him abound, but the most famous is how he saved three daughters from being sold into slavery. There was no dowry to entice a man to marry them, so it was their fatherβs last resort. St. Nicholas is said to have tossed gold through an open window into the home, thus saving them from their fate. Legend has it that the gold landed in a sock drying by the fire, so children started hanging stockings by their fires in hopes St. Nicholas would toss gifts into them. As time went on, each European culture adapted versions of St. Nicholas. In Swiss and German cultures, Christkind or Kris Kringle (Christ child) accompanied St. Nicholas to deliver presents to well-behaved children. Jultomten was a happy elf delivering gifts via a I Am Dreaming Of A Lung Cancer Free Christmas Shirt drawn by goats in Sweden. Then there was Father Christmas in England and Pere Noel in France. In the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Lorraine, France, and parts of Germany, he was known as Sinter Klaas. (Klaas, for the record, is a shortened version of the name Nicholas). This is where the Americanized Santa Claus comes from.
We would dash down and into the living room. The gifts seemed to stretch across the living room. Wow. Mom and dad would only put gifts under tree from friends that brought them. Santaβs and our parentβ gifts for us would be brought down at night after we were in bed and our stockings hanging on the fireplace filled. Before that though, the gifts had to be locked in the utility room because Lori would rip some of the paper off to see what her gifts were. She was a real snooper. Each year, one of us would be Santa and put on the Santa cap and hand out the title. Santa would hand gifts to each person including him or herself and we would then open our gifts. After everyone had opened their gifts, Santa would hand out more gifts to each of us and we would open them. This way, it slowed down Christmas morning instead of everyone grabbing a gift, tearing it open and grabbing another one to end it all too quickly. After we opened our gifts, we would remember there was still our stockings and my sisters and I would go through our stockings and find all kinds of little treasures. Lori, Tracy and I would always set up the new board game we received for Christmas and play it. When children, Dad would read the funny letter Santa had left us by the empty plate and glass. It thrilled us that Santa ate the cookies and milk and even more so when we listened to the letter dad read from Santa. He even knew our names. Wow. I remember Tracy once saying to Dad, βDaddy, if Santa ate cookies and drank milk at every house he went to, wouldnβt he barf after? He must get awful sick.
