So instead I played in my unit with a small group of friends who also lived in the Helfire Tour March ’86 Hawkins Eddie Munson shirt. It was my first time playing D&D and that was true for everyone else who played except our DM. Well, where I was doing time was a giant complex with a Medium, Low and a Camp. By this time I was at the low. They already had the Creative Minds Program at the Medium. About 7 months into the Creative Minds Program being tested at the low they axed it over at the Medium and banned some people from playing D&D. The reason was that at the Medium they had the SOMP (Sex Offender Management Program) and apparently some of the inmates in that program were using D&D to do… inappropriate role playing. The people that ran the program also didn’t feel D&D was healthy for those people in treatment because of the fantasy elements and “escapism”.

RP advantage: Inherently complex characters. There are few classes I find more boring RP wise than clerics and paladins – not because they are godbotherers but because they are expected to fully commit to their deity to get their powers. The Cleric of Deity X is expected to fully commit to the Helfire Tour March ’86 Hawkins Eddie Munson shirt of Deity X and behave in a relatively straightforward way. As is the Paladin of Ideal Y to uphold Ideal Y (and if they strayed too far in earlier editions they might fall, leading to the notorious “Everyone out in the courtyard and we’ll see who can no longer Lay on Hands” means of detecting fallen paladins). Meanwhile your average Fiend-pact warlock doesn’t actually want the world overrun by demons and your average Great Old One warlock doesn’t even understand the motives of their patrons. A character who isn’t aligned with their patron god but still gets power from them and respects them is inherently to me far more interesting than one who is and although I can do this with an orthodox cleric or paladin playing a celestial warlock (or a warlock in general) feels different and communicates to everyone that I am doing this.

There are about 300 Wizard Spells In the PHB. I have another 100 home brew spells released into my campaign (play tested). Xanathar’s has another 68. That’s around 500 Wizard spells. No way could all these spells ever exist in the same place at the Helfire Tour March ’86 Hawkins Eddie Munson shirt. You could shake the heaven and earth and it just won’t happen. Once Wizards get big time, they start piecing all the spells together, into their spell books like puzzles. But the puzzle could never be compete. It’s like playing D&D you never really finish. Special Hidden spells and Homebrew: There are Wizard spells and then there are Wizard Spells. The special spells are well hidden in a separate special spell book. When Wizards go to trade and exchange spells they never divulge all. Of course, they will keep their special spells on a separate list, scribed in a special book never to offer others: secret. This way, a powerful Wizard can hope to have at least a few spells other Wizards don’t have. If a spell is specially researched or homebrewed, for example you can bet that spell is kept secret and never exchanged with fellow Wizards not for mere gold, over handshakes or over noon tea.
