I like Happy Holidays better: I like that it acknowledges not everyone is celebrating Christmas. Thereβs Kwanza, Channukah, Solstice celebrations, and Iβm sure a Halloween Thanksgiving Christmas Happy HalloThanksMas Gnomes T Shirt hoodie, Sweater Shirt of other religious observations going on besides Christmas. I think itβs willfully ignorant in this day and age to assume that the people you meet in the course of the day are the same religion as you. What harm is there in offering a seasonal greeting that doesnβt dropkick them into a completely inaccurate categoy? Iβm nominally Christian and I get heartily sick of having my face rubbed in βthe joy of Christmasβ every year, even when my holiday season is going great. I can only imagine how grindingly annoying it is to Muslims, Jews, Wiccans, Atheists, Hindus, & so many other people! Iβm not βoffendedβ by a βMerry Christmasβ β someone is wishing me well and Iβll take that sentiment at face valueβ but I think Happy Holidays has the added value of not leaving other people feeling awkward about a religious mismatch.
Gnob started life as a forest gnome. This is an excellent question for me to answer. As a child growing up in a lower income family I didn’t have a lot of Halloween Thanksgiving Christmas Happy HalloThanksMas Gnomes T Shirt hoodie, Sweater Shirt Β issues. That’s because I didn’t have that much of anything. My parents were especially frugal even when times weren’t so hard. Christmas was always the same routine for me until I turned sixteen and then received two gifts on Christmas morning. I had assumed there were many homes like mine and didn’t realize how much parents actually spend on their kids toys each year until many years later. On Christmas morning I would get two or three big presents that were labeled from Santa Claus. The rest of my smaller presents were from my mom and dad. Approximately, ten to twelve presents. The ones from Santa Claus were always the more interesting of the presents.Β I remember when I was seven asking for a sleigh for the upcoming expecting snow. In Michigan where I grew up I enjoyed cold winters with lots of snowfall. By Christmas there was usually lots of snow on the ground already. That same year I got my first snow suit which was bright purple and a pair of new snow boots. After unwrapping my presents that year my first order of business was to suit up in my gear and head outside to the snowbanks! I remember when I was finished trying out my sleigh I sat down with a cup of hot chocolate and wrote Santa a long thank you letter for making sure I got exactly what I had requested that year!
