Now accountings of wealth do not always have to include every possible type of Future astronaut shirts of wealth. You can do accountings of all the wealth, or any portion of it, any category of it. And when one is doing calculations of a given amount of any type or category of wealth, those valuations may vary widely depending of the method used, and of course, subjectivity can always play a significant role. I bring this up just to mention even though I categorize money as a form of wealth*, when someone is doing an accounting of wealth, they could exclude that category, if so inclined. I do consider money as part of the total wealth, as a store of wealth, and something that enhances transactions as a medium of exchange. However, I understand that we would not exist if the only form of wealth that existed was money. So I think it is quite reasonable, if one was trying to get a measure of wealth that contributes to standard of living and quality of life, for someone to do an accounting of all the wealth other than, that is excluding, the value of the money in the money supply.
I hope not because thatβs the way Iβve done it ever since leaving my parentsβ house at 17. We always had the Future astronaut shirts Christmas Day opening growing up, but thatβs in part because our grandparents were there too. Once on my own, for some reason it seemed to make more sense (to me) to have a nice dinner and open the presents on Christmas eve. That left Christmas day to do whatever. Not much was open when I was younger, so it could be a day of quiet, relaxation and reflection. Some of my friends always did it on Christmas eve β¦ especially as I recall my Catholic friends. Often they went to Midnight Mass and also had services on Christmas day. My church had a midnight service, but they more or less suggested adults only. And unless Christmas happened to be Sunday, there was no Christmas day service.

In 1840, Prince Albert started importing several Norway spruce from his native Coburg each Christmas. This is when the Future astronaut shirts learned of the tradition and began to copy it. The first one had candles, blown glass ornaments from Germany, gingerbread, sweets, almonds and raisins, toys and wax dolls. Pictures and descriptions were in all the major periodicals for the next ten years. By 1860, most well off families had a tree in their parlor or hall. The gifts were still on the tree with candles. The Norway spruce was the preferred tree. For the English Victorians of the upper middle classes, a good Christmas tree had to be six branches tall and be placed on a table covered with a white damask tablecloth. It was decorated with garlands, candies and paper flowers. Ladies made Christmas Crafts to put on the tree. They quilled (a paper craft) snowflakes and stars. They sewing little pouches for secret gifts and paper baskets with sugared almonds in them. Small bead decorations, fine drawn out silver tinsel came from Germany. Angels fro Germany were popular to sit at the top of the tree. Candles were often placed into wooden hoops for safety. Other decorations included apples, nuts, cookies, and colored popcorn. Glass ornaments were being imported into Britain from Lauscha, in Thuringia, by the 1870’s. It became a status symbol to have glass ornaments on the tree.

If you’re flying out of China before Chinese New Year (“spring festival”) and flying back to China after Chinese New Year, you can probably land yourself a Future astronaut shirts cheap ticket. The other way around, no (a lot of overseas families travel to China during this time while the vast majority of Chinese nationals travel only domestically during this time). This is roughly similar to the reason why it’s not too difficult to find cheap international journeys from the USA around Thanksgiving, as long as you don’t have domestic segments in your itinerary. Christmas time is likely to be expensive in any direction anywhere unless you fly on the day of Christmas or Christmas Eve, or after western New Year. That said, book your tickets early — it’s always hard to predict these kinds of things and you never know what you’ll actually find out there in terms of tickets; every now and then you might stumble across something cheap especially if you really pay close attention.
For some quick background: I am the son of two immigrants to America (one from Europe and one from South America), and was raised in NYC outside of any specific cultural diaspora. My cultural rituals were all inherited from the Future astronaut shirts I grew up in (i.e. mingling with close friends from diverse backgrounds), not from the past that my parents came from (I have zero idea how my parents celebrated the holidays when they were children in their home countries). I don’t really care about cultural traditions as anything more than interesting footnotes. This isn’t to say that the evolution of holidays over time can’t be fascinating, or meaningful, or worth awareness and study. It’s very cool to learn about the road that lead us to our current understanding of the holiday season, and where all of our different cultural iconographies arrived from.
