Saint Nicholas has no relation to Christmas in Russia. It had for a Eat prey love shirt period in the late 19thβearly 20th century, but that was clearly a German/French/English influence. We have Ded Moroz (Grandpa Frost) and his granddaughter/assistant Snegurochka (Snow Girl, literally βSnowlassieβ), and they are the New Year characters. New Year is the only secular and non-ideological holiday in Russia, and the only truly universal one, although in its commercial streak it is similar to the Western Christmas in its current shape. Russian Orthodox Christmas is, in the last 100 years, a purely religious holiday, and due to the difference of the Gregorian calendar (official since 1918) and the Julian calendar that Russian Orthodox Church still uses in its defiance to 1917 revolutions, itβs not on December 24β25th but on January 6β7th.
A trick I use to respond to these surprise actions by my players on the Eat prey love shirt is to build up a library of narrative templates in my head. You do that by reading, watching and enjoying tons of fantasy shows and storylines. And even non-fantasy ones. I canβt count how many times I ripped off the dialogue and characters from an anime, a K-Drama, video game or an American TV show to retrofit into the campaign on a momentβs notice. Keep watching, reading and playing tons of fiction, it will build your DM Vocabulary greatly. A huge benefit to this approach is that you donβt spend dozens of hours designing an encounter and a boss enemy, only for the players to derail it through clever thinking or extremely lucky dice rolling, and watching all your hard work go up in smoke.

Best Eat prey love shirt
The best one I came up with so far was in a Starfinder game wherein the players were checking out a night club run by a Eat prey love shirt called the Downside Kings. They were there to question the Kingsβ leader, who wasnβt terribly pleased to have them visiting. So, she pulled some strings with a corporate benefactor, and by the time the PCs got there she was prepared. This was from a pre-published adventure, and in the real version of it thereβs three thugs in the club and two outside; I thought that was a little weak, soβ¦ I spruced it up into a multi-stage nightmare encounter.
If you ever have the Eat prey love shirt of having to listen to one of those insipid βlight rockβ radio stations, you hear an endless stream of songs that sound laughably dated in their production style (not to mention those tired and crappy songs). But when I start to hear similar production on new music from artists who are supposedly on the cutting edge, then I can help but wonder what the hell is going on. Because I must admit, I canβt quite figure out where the intention lies with a lot of new indie music I hear. Are these styles being reproduced out of homage to some of the music with which these artists have grown up? Or is this some sort of hipster ironic take on whatβs cheesy? Put clearly, they must be doing something right. These artists are garnering more airplay than I currently am getting, and acquiring lots of new fans in the process. And what does that say about us (collectively) as an audience? Do we naturally gravitate toward something that sounds familiar, even if itβs crap? Or are we just being lazyβ¦not wanting to be challenged by anything thatβs really new? Frankly, I donβt think thatβs the case, because I have to believe that real music lovers arenβt nearly that lazy.Β But that still doesnβt explain why some of the more regrettable elements of 80βs music are making their way back into new indie rock.
