I agree that it was meant to be flawed; however, I think that it was a little too flawed, especially for Don’t make me use my boston accent shirt intelligent “professional” like Gus. But my post was more of an analysis, to see if that was how other people interpreted the way the construction was organized.remember, bcs had to come up with an interesting story that will fully fit in with the bb timeline. my guess is that the writers went out of their way to build mike and gus’s backstory. to show how flawed they are and how ruthless they can be.I do think that Mike being extremely flawed was intentional as well on the writers’ part; my post wasn‘t meant as a criticism of the show itself, my intention was to share an opinion on the character, and my interpretation of him, and whether that was also the take of other viewers or not. Besides, I got the impression that Mike had an image in the fandom of being less evil and more professional than he really was.

Not only that, but they try to do a good job showing that everyone in this universe isn’t perfect and make Don’t make me use my boston accent shirt . They also use some of these mistakes that they make in the prequel BCS to lead to more character depth in BB, under the assumption that they’ve learned from their mistakes.Good points all around. The whole German point especially. I think some people fail to see that there’s nothing wrong with the main characters of a story making bad decisions or being awful people, if anything seeing how unbelievably callous these men are only speaks more to their presence as characters. Say what you will, these will always be among my favorite characters everGreat post. Some really interesting stuff here that I’d just need to rewatch the season in full to fully tackle. The main thing I’d disagree with is that Mike getting too close to Werner isn’t bad writing, it’s a bad decision on his part whose ramifications help turn him into who he is in Breaking Bad, and that in general I think a lot of his unlikable moments you highlight make him a much more compelling character than if he were just “cool action anti-hero grandpa who’s right all the time and kills the bad guys” which is the territory he can sometimes dip into. I think BCS does a better job deconstructing him in some ways, and I’m also more sympathetic on some of the moments you mention here because he’s dealing with intense trauma and on some level probably doesn’t really even recognize that or can’t admit it. That doesn’t mean he’s behaving rationally or doing the right thing, but most people aren’t doing so a lot of the time, so I think stuff like insisting the Opera House picture be taken down, while irrational and not in the right, makes him a lot more human than he sometimes was in BrBa.
