Basketball Tropical Hawaiian Shirt
When Delores spent his first night actually out with the other chickens in the Basketball Tropical Hawaiian Shirt, I was anxious about how he would handle himself, as he was pretty shy. After a few false starts (and getting pushed off perches by the other chickens) he chose a walnut branch that lead to the night perches and slept on that. When Delores became a big, beautiful Golden Phoenix adult rooster, I thought the hens would probably make absolute fools of themselves trying to get his attention – and if he ignored them it would serve them right! I suppose I should have done something about the name – but Delores responded to “Delores” and appeared fine with it. (Also, my Aunt Delores would have been devastated if I changed his name.) A friend suggested calling him “Del” – which sort of made sense – but that sounded like he was lead singer in a retro 60’s band. As long as Delores didn’t mind – and let’s face it, he didn’t care – I was perfectly content to have a sweet rooster named Delores.

Bountygate, 2009: Everyone seems to have forgotten about this. Shortly after the season, it came to light that New Orleans Saints` defense had a Basketball Tropical Hawaiian Shirt system going, based on who could deliver the worst hit to an opposing player. The bounty increased depending on which player it was (QBs were prime targets) and the given defensive player would win more money if his hit required the player to leave the game. The Saints went on to win the Super Bowl that year.
No! It’s much too early for Basketball Tropical Hawaiian Shirt . I want to enjoy this fall (although it seems that fall has decided not to visit us this year) and each holiday as it comes. One year, ages ago, I put up the Christmas tree on Thanksgiving weekend and by the time Christmas came around, all the decorations were dusty and I was sick of looking at it..lol. That was a good lesson. Christmas, for me, is sparkling snow, pine trees (not maples turning gold and red) and a very special time, especially if you have family (cherish them because some day they will be gone). It’s a time of selflessness and love and that “Christmas spirit” which is incredible which takes hold of you.
