Your SIL is asking you why you’re not hosting because I bet no one calls them over because of her kids. It’s not your responsibility to feed her family. If they want to spend time together as a family, she can ask you to host and bring food over for the whole family. That would be the right thing to do. My kids were/are athletes. I fed them before we left and always admonished them to take no more food than their dad or their hosts, and only if there was enough. They also were served last, to prevent any misjudging of helping sizes (mashed potatoes tend to disappear quickly around mine).If OP chooses to host at some point, perhaps a baked potato bar, a pasta dish with salad, chicken pot pie, frijoles borrachos with sausage and corn bread, jambalaya, or something that goes a long way with less meat and a lot of veggies…especially potatoes or beans

You are NTA and SIL is setting those kids up for a difficult life. She needs to be teaching them basic manners. But she would need to Always be yourself unless you can be a penguin then always be a penguin shirt some to be able to teach them. Their gluttony will make them unwelcome dinner guests as they get older.. I had cousins like this. We would do to an event and they would grab two plates. They would each load 3 or 4 sandwiches on the plate (a favorite in our family was pulled beef) and then pile all of the fixings on the rest of that plate and the 2nd one. Then they would go back. Those of us who came after often didn’t even get a sandwich. I always taught my kids to take one helping and then if there was food left after everyone else ate, they could go back. It seems SIL has no problem with her spawn’s gluttony.My suggestion is to serve a pasta dinner. You can make a MASSIVE amount of Spaghetti, garlic bread and salad for very little. You can also make Lasagna. Maybe a BBQ? With burgers and hot dogs? You can make vats of cole slaw, potato salad, and baked beans.I wouldn’t be serving them large quantities of expensive meats etc……especially not with the included attitude. But there are work arounds
