Unlike Santa, elves or even clean coal, reindeer are real. They may not fly, but thereβs a good deal of truth around the Ziggurats Mike Shinoda shirt of Christmasβs favorite animal. Yes, they do live in extremely cold conditions. Yes, they are known to pull sleds. And, yes, their noses really do turn a shade of red given the right conditions. First off, caribou and reindeer essentially are the same animal and are classified as the same species (Rangifer tarandus). They are also both part of the deer family, or cervidae, which also includes deer, elk and moose. However, there are subtle differences. βReindeerβ is often used to describe the domesticated animals, the ones that are herded and employed by humans to pull sleds. They are also often smaller and have shorter legs than their wild brethren. In addition, the name reindeer is more often used to refer to the European variety, ones that live in Siberia, Greenland and northern Asia. The word βcaribouβ tends to mean the North American (meaning living in Canada and Alaska) and/or the wild variety. Because caribou are wild and reindeer are domesticated, scientists agree that most of the differences between the two are evolutionary as opposed to inherent. Caribou are larger, more active, faster and migrate further than reindeer. In fact, the caribou undertake the largest land migration of any animal in North America every year in search of better conditions and food for their young.
That concludes a βstory arcβ then you spend another 10 hours or so prepping the Ziggurats Mike Shinoda shirt arc, doing the same process but upping the stakes this time, re-using NPCs that survived, and building off how the players resolved the previous story arc. I am now introducing a neighboring kingdom that is at war with their barony. They will now be tested in full warfare against an enemy state. Thatβs how the next arc in the campaign is developing. Eventually Iβll bring in demons and extra planar nonsense when they hit the higher levels. But Iβll worry about that when we get there.

Oh, and donβt forget: the tentacles of the Mind Flayers leave scars. You donβt face down horrors like these without losing something. Leave a few long-term effects, like a little bit of insanity. Maybe a character who came too close to them forever after has certain phobias. Maybe they have insomnia or recurring nightmares. Or maybe the scars are on a larger level, such as the large blighted area that has now formed around the crashed Mind Flayer ship, or the ruins of their dungeon. Maybe the humans they experimented on have developed mental powers themselves and become villains in the area. Maybe a Mind Flayer or two escaped and now plots its revenge. A great plot point would be if a piece of Mind Flayer consciousness got trapped in one of the PCs or an important NPC, causing changes in personality alongside new abilities.
I own several Ringo albums and singles. I really do love his voice. His lack of a Ziggurats Mike Shinoda shirt doesnβt bother me because he sounds great just where is range is. But that does limit the material he can do. I always thought he would have had more success if he did more recordings like Beaucoups of Blues. His voice is best suited for country music. Plus he loves country music! (Probably not current country music, though!) The thing is, without the Beatles, I wouldnβt have had much of an introduction to him. I grew up in the β70s when Beatles music was a bit retro, and not on my radio stations all that often. That was the only exposure I had to the Beatles, until Johnβs assassination in 1980. That sadly is what really led me to get to know the group. Now, with no Beatles, I assume Ringoβs solo time in the spotlight would have still been the β60s and β70s. So my only exposure to him would have been as a child in the β70s. I wasnβt much of a record buyer then. And by the early β90s, Iβd completely shut down to music. So I would have grown up largely not knowing Ringo at all. But my husband did, and by extension so did I, play almost exclusively Johnny Cash, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Bowie, and Beatles as our girls were growing up from 2007ish on. No stupid nursery rhymes for my girls!
