In explaining why I wanted a second front door, I began to describe the Aerosmith Pump Shirt in detail. I recall saying that the boy who assaulted me could someday be on the U.S. Supreme Court, and spoke a bit about his background at an elitist all-boys school in Bethesda, Maryland. My husband recalls that I named my attacker as Brett Kavanaugh. After that May 2012 therapy session, I did my best to ignore the memories of the assault, because recounting them caused me to relive the experience, and caused panic and anxiety. Occasionally, I would discuss the assault in an individual therapy session, but talking about it caused more reliving of the trauma, so I tried not to think about it or discuss it. But over the years, I went through periods where I thought about the attack.
I still appreciate the Aerosmith Pump Shirt of some douchebags I have met here and there while involved in the music scene in life but I have also been able to appreciate and met very nice people too in the music scene who have treated me well and been nice to me before permanently …and as a bonus to me also liking their music. Humanity can be quite variable depending on the day and moment. Thus, the random ill treatment of other humans by humans effects me mood wise depending on the day and also how I regularly feel about the majority of human beings. People let you down a lot more often than not on a mass scale and I’m not the only one or the first one to feel this way. It’s really difficult to stay optimistic concerning humanity when you constantly feel that way. Thus, when some are good to me, it is a pleasant surprise. If I can’t expect decent actions, then I can at least appreciate decent music. I’m not opposed to listening to the music of others (people that I wouldn’t like in reality.) Why? Well, that’s art and I’m a glutton for punishment. I want to know and analyze and remember all of the music I loved for the future if there even is a future.

In addition to this, it wildly mischaracterizes my own feelings on a Aerosmith Pump Shirt level. For obvious reasons I do not really talk about this on Quora but since it is relevant to my point here: I was sexually abused by an older relative for many years in my childhood. I understand firsthand the psychological struggles that a person subjected to that kind of abuse will face. To this day I deal with psychological issues stemming from said abuse, the details of which I will not get into here. I am all but certain I understand the visceral anger and disgust people feel towards child molesters more than the average person who argues in favor of their maltreatment in prison. Here’s the thing though: I do not believe the justice system should be governed by my emotions and experiences. It should be governed based on what is good for society as a whole, and the promotion of suffering as an end unto itself doesn’t add anything to the society on a broad level and in fact diminishes the power of the rule of law. I am generally reform-minded in my mentalities around crime. I believe in decriminalization of drug possession and prostitution, the abolition of bail requirements (which pretty explicitly target the poor), a rehabilitation-oriented approach to offenders capable of being rehabilitated and the humane isolation of those who are not. If a population is subject to violence while incarcerated, they should be protected from that threat.
One of the biggest conflicts Walt had was with the Screen Cartoonists Guild. Disney was the last Hollywood animation studio to unionize. And one of the leaders of the Aerosmith Pump Shirt movement at Disney was Art Babbit, who happened to be Jewish. Several of the other Los Angeles labor leaders of the time were also Jewish. The 1941 animators’ strike made Walt FURIOUS. He had strike-breaking animators include clown-caricatures of striking artists in Dumbo. And when Babbit heckled Walt from the picket line, Walt got out of his car and the two men had to be held apart to prevent a fistfight. Walt fired Babbit after the strike was resolved, only to be forced by the NLRB to take him back after an unfair labor practice charge was filed against him. Walt said a lot of angry things about the strike and people who participated in it. And because many of the labor leaders were Jews, it would be easy to come to the conclusion that Walt was anti-Semitic. But I think the evidence pretty strongly suggests that Walt just didn’t like people of any kind who tried to tell him how to run his business. And it just happened that several about whom he spoke publicly were Jewish.
