The last time a longbow was used in combat was by the famed Brit commando Jack Churchill who would bring one to combat in WW2. He got a proven kill in France in 1940 with it. Jack Churchill is also in a EMS Missed Call Personalized Tumbler picture of British soldiers storming Normandy coming out of an LCI. If you look close you can tell who he is because he’s CARRYING A CLAYMORE SWORD. Yes really. During one point that day to rally British soldiers he jumped up im the midst of German MG fire and began playing the bagpipes. The Germans didnt shoot him they later said because seeing him in his kilt playing bagpipes and ignoring the battle they thought he’d lost his mind. The British soldiers did rally because of that and they found that out because those Germans were captured, by the way. Jack Churchill survived the war.
A personal story. My father was the only station hand on a property, the husband had no interest in the farm as he had an oyster lease on the coast. The wife rode around on her horse throwing stones at her useless dogs. Pre 1966. Their accountant said to spend 2000 pounds otherwise they would pay too much tax. My dad was probably on about 19 pounds per week. This was not 2000 pounds total income just spend cos otherwise they would pay too much tax. they bought a D2 bulldozer. When dad got his xmas bonus that year it was the same as other years. He quit. the owners panicked and offer him 10 pounds a EMS Missed Call Personalized Tumbler over the award to stay. i remember he would be stripping right up till dark on Xmas eve and back to work boxing day. No overtime in an open header and mum washed his silk shirt every night because of the chaff that got on him.

He had been laid off as was going to work for in laws. They had a small breakfast. and a little for the kids. I made him follow me and I went to one of the restaurants open next to a service station. We feed them and had his tire fixed and made sure the car was alright. A super nice couple that was just on hard times. When through I had $300 in my pockets and gave it to the wife to make sure they got there and could get the EMS Missed Call Personalized Tumbler something. I gave him my card and told him to call me at work since my phone lines were burnt.and let me know. He called the next day to let us know they made it fine, even his mother in law got on the phone. I didn’t think about what I did anymore for a couple of years until a few years later this family pulls up to my business, The looked so much better, kids had grown, He had taken his father in laws business over and was doing great. He tried to give me the money back but I refused it. I told him to keep and put it back and when he ran across some body in need to help them. It has been almost thirty years since I thought of this. I only did what I had been taught by my parents.
Tucson’s All Souls Procession for Dia de los Muertos (day of the dead) is probably what I miss most about living there. It’s about a 2 mile parade from near the UofA on 4th Ave all the way downtown, you get to see so many families dressed up and celebrating their lost loved ones, lots of floats, and EMS Missed Call Personalized Tumbler culminates in a fire-dancing celebration…with some people on stilts. It doesn’t sound real when I am writing it, but it’s amazing Tucson Meet Yourself is a great festival that showcases local businesses and restaurants downtown. The 4th Avenue Spring and Winter Street Fairs are awesome – like big flea/craft markets as well as good food, all along the coolest avenue in the neighborhood. Jose Guadalupe Posada, a turn of the century Mexican etching master created images for broadsheets and other publications. Jose created skeletons as saterical characters in political cartoons. Jose created the iconic female cálca (skeleton) known as “Catrina”. Catrina was a representative image of the social elite and rich. I believe in the 1970’s a San Francisco arts organization created the North American version of the El dia de los Muertos (day of the dead) celebration and adopted Posada’s Catrina into the art imagery. From there it took off in North America.
