You don’t stop drumming when you get old shirt
The issue is that the struggles of POCs are not unique, they are entirely socioeconomical. The issue with this is that using race as a barometric for socioeconomic status is highly inaccurate. I dont see how poverty born from someone’s unique ancestral You don’t stop drumming when you get old shirt is any different from poverty born from a history of racial discrimination; in the end you face the same setbacks and feel the same suffering. Rather, socioeconomic status should drive our consideration as this is a more accurate metric of ones “priviledge” or lack thereof.
Best You don’t stop drumming when you get old shirt
Great points! I know a lot of people struggle with the idea of systemic racism, but as a white dude I’ve found the concept incredibly useful for finally pulling my head out of the sand and recognizing how racism looks in modern America. People tend to get defensive when it comes to discussing racism, but looking at it from a macro perspective made me realize that racism is often a concrete, structural problem that makes life materially more difficult for PoC, and can function independently from the racial attitudes of the people who are part of the system. If I rubbed a magic lamp and wished that racist attitudes would be completely wiped out from humankind, You don’t stop drumming when you get old shirt and continue to widen the wealth gap between white people and PoC.
